Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP)
HARP is a federal program to help responsible, underwater and near underwater homeowners refinance their mortgages to today's lower rates. HARP allows homeowners with mortgages owned by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac on or before May 31, 2009 and have current mortgage payments are eligible to refinance to today's lower rates. With HARP no appraisal or private mortgage insurance is required.
